Guthrie Weekly Arrest Log Source
Guthrie County runs no official weekly booking feed. Nothing like a 72-hour jail list exists either. The nearest thing is the Guthrie County Times Vedette sheriff-report category. Each entry there is journalism built on sheriff-report material, not a county-controlled roster. No release ledger or booking-photo search exists.
Reports cover weekly periods and can appear online after the week closes. That lag suits a look back at a finished stretch of enforcement, but it cannot tell you who sits in the jail right now. The archive stretches across several pages. Nothing is promised about permanent access or retention. A report can stay up long after the person described has been released or transferred elsewhere.
Read Guthrie Arrest Reports Carefully
Start with the week covering the event date. Then work through each dated entry instead of hunting a single name. Many items say only "one male" or "one female." A missing name does not mean no arrest happened. The arresting agency and the transport destination usually give the fastest route. Follow that route to the official record.
- Open the Times Vedette sheriff-report category and select the correct reporting week.
- Match the event date and time before relying on a similar location or description.
- Note the responding agency, event type, and facility named in any transport entry.
- Call the agency that created the report and request the incident or booking identifier.
- Use Iowa Courts Online later to check filed proceedings and disposition, not present custody.
A single weekly account can name Guthrie County deputies, Panora Police, and Stuart Police. Departments from outside the county appear there too. Transports also vary. Entries point to Guthrie County Jail, Adair County Jail, and other facilities. "Arrested in," "arrested by," and "booked at" are separate facts. Never infer the jail from the town named in the entry.
Guthrie Arrest Log Entry Fields
These are news stories, not jail software. The weekly reports carry event details rather than a fixed booking schema, and no two items look alike. The fields below describe what a news entry may contain, and ask the public custodian for anything omitted.
| Report element | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Week and event date | Separates the publication date from the date law enforcement acted. |
| Time | Helps isolate one call or transport from other events that day. |
| Agency | Identifies the likely custodian of the incident or arrest report. |
| Event type | May distinguish a call, stop, arrest, warrant action, or transport. |
| General person description | May omit the name and cannot identify a person without official confirmation. |
| Transport destination | Shows where a person was taken at that time, not where the person remains. |
| Warrant context | Records an event in that week and does not prove a warrant is still active. |
| Booking photograph | No recurring named photo gallery was verified in the reports reviewed. |
Guthrie Sheriff Report Archive
The Times Vedette's sheriff-report archive tracks multi-day enforcement activity.
Read the report category one week at a time. It is a news feed, not a jail custody search. A second historical route sits in the Iowa Archives, where Stuart Herald material is stored. Archived legal issues dated September 18, 2025 and August 1, 2024 are held there. Those issues include Guthrie County Sheriff's Reports. That path works especially well for Stuart events. It remains a newspaper archive, though, not the sheriff's official records schedule.
Guthrie Weekend Arrest Reporting
A weekly report gathers weekday and weekend events alike. Nothing there proves a "weekend surge." Nor does it show an arrest waiting until Monday for processing. The county posts no special weekend or holiday rule. Jail operations can continue while an administrative service window sits closed.
Publication lags behind the report period. A weekend arrest may only surface when the weekly item appears. For current status, call the facility directly. For a same-day event, use the Daily Arrest Report process instead of waiting on a news archive. Keep three dates in your notes. The event date, the report week, and the publication date each answer a different question.
Note: A later weekly post reflects publication timing, not the booking time or a guaranteed delay in county recordkeeping.
Guthrie Arrests Cross Jail Lines
Guthrie County enforcement crosses jail lines. The agency and destination both vary. Entries have named Guthrie County deputies, Panora Police, and Stuart Police, with transports to Guthrie County Jail, Adair County Jail, and other facilities. A transport can also start elsewhere when a Guthrie warrant is involved.
That geography shapes every follow-up. Ask the arresting agency for its incident report. Ask the destination about custody at the reported time. If the person moved again, request the transfer date and destination. A county news story cannot say where anyone is held days later, but IowaVINE may send qualifying custody-change alerts, and the Iowa Department of Corrections search applies after someone enters state custody or supervision.
Stuart spans Guthrie and Adair counties. Coon Rapids spans Guthrie and Carroll counties. A city name alone never assigns an event to Guthrie County Jail, so check the agency and destination before assuming where a person was booked.
Guthrie Enforcement Logs Beyond Arrests
The Times Vedette and Stuart Herald columns cover far more than bookings. Traffic stops, service calls, transports, and warrant activity all appear alongside Guthrie County arrest entries. Some items involve no arrest at all. A transport note may even run without a name or booking details. That breadth shows what each agency handled during the week, but the labels matter.
So treat a call entry as a call, not an arrest. Treat a transport as a transport. A warrant mentioned in an old issue could be long resolved. Check before assuming it is active. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and the court involved are the only reliable sources. Use them for current facts. Once a case is filed, Iowa Courts Online carries the public docket. Some case documents may take a courthouse terminal to view.
Older Guthrie Arrest Log Records
Guthrie County keeps no official archive of multi-day booking feeds. Older arrest records stay with whatever agency holds them. A newspaper's category pages and archived issues are one thing; government retention is another. Iowa Chapter 22 governs access to records that still exist. It sets no single retention period for every sheriff record.
Administrative rule 201-50.22 fills in part of the gap. It generally requires two years of retention for listed jail record types. The list covers jail calendars, incident reports, and property receipts. Visitor registration and medical and injury material are included too. That rule alone creates no two-year Guthrie County booking-photo requirement. Privacy limits can also shape what gets released.
For an older event, write to Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, Attn: Records Department, Law Enforcement Center, 200 N. 5th St., Guthrie Center, IA 50115. You can also call 641-747-2214. Ask whether the arrest report, booking sheet, source photograph, release record, and related identifiers still exist. Request the applicable schedule too, plus the destruction date or receiving institution if a record was destroyed or transferred. The State Historical Society schedule page explains state records management. That does not mean the office holds Guthrie booking files.
Guthrie Arrest Outcomes Need Courts
A weekly arrest entry only captures one moment. Charges can be reduced, amended, dismissed, or resolved later. Newspaper shorthand is not a case file, and the final outcome lives in the court record. For any Guthrie County case already filed, the Iowa Courts Online search is the official docket route.
The court search shows proceedings and disposition data. It is not a live jail roster, so do not read it as one.
Custody is separate from the case outcome. A person arrested may stay in county custody, get released, transfer, receive an Iowa DOC sentence, or land in a federal system entirely. The weekly arrest report is historical context only. Confirm current custody with the responsible agency.
